2. What was the original landing site of their arrival called by the Aborigines and what was it renamed by the British? They arrived to the east coast, to a place called Warang by the aborigines, the same they later named Sidney.
3. Who was on the British ship and what was their interest in Australia at the time? Convicts and soldiers. They wanted new land to live in.
4. What was the Dreaming or Dreamtime in Aboriginal spirituality?
It was their mythology. Their explanations on the creation.
5. Who was the Aborgine who took on a significant role among the settlers and, later, in England itself? Bennelong.
6. How would you characterize his situation, or, what do you think he was thinking he was going to accomplish? Bennelong became the governor’s interpretor, and British started to like him. He tought the British all about his people, I think maybe trying to create some sort of arrangement that was fair for both of their people.
7. How does the British Australian experience of colonization differ and how does it overlap with their previous attempts in North America, which includes Canada Marien, and India? In Australia it was really different because they didn’t kill everyone to get the territory. They were a bit more civilized and even interested in the aborigines and their traditions. Maybe they did it different this time because they saw the other way didn’t work too well.
